Inside Our Ford Ranger Super Duty Display Build

ARB Rockingham Super Duty display build with MITS Alloy tray and canopy, ARB protection and touring accessories
  • October 30, 2026

When you’re building a Ford Super Duty for touring, towing and remote travel, there’s a lot more to consider than simply choosing a few accessories.

Our XLT Super Duty display build at ARB Rockingham was put together to show what’s possible when the vehicle is planned as a complete setup, with protection, suspension, storage, electrical, lighting, communication and everyday usability all considered together.

At the centre of the build is a complete MITS Alloy tray and canopy package, supported by a wide range of accessories designed to make the Super Duty practical for long distance travel.

Starting With the MITS Alloy Tray & Canopy

The Super Duty has been set up with a MITS Alloy tray and canopy package, creating a dedicated touring and storage system that forms the backbone of the rear setup.

The setup includes:

  • MITS Alloy tray
  • MITS Alloy canopy
  • Colour coded canopy doors and undertray toolboxes
  • 90L of combined water storage
  • Rear trundle drawer

Inside, the layout combines storage, power and everyday touring equipment without filling every available space.

There’s a Bushman 85L upright fridge and cage, upright pantry, single drawers and table, plus a Travel Buddy oven mounted using the MITS Alloy oven bracket.

It means the canopy can handle food storage, cooking, water, power and general gear, with enough room to keep everything organised for longer trips with the whole family.

Electrical Built Into the Canopy

A touring canopy needs more than storage.

This build runs a REDARC Ultimate Electrical Package to manage the vehicle’s auxiliary power requirements.

The electrical system supports equipment throughout the canopy and gives the vehicle a proper foundation for extended travel rather than relying on temporary power solutions.

An ARB Twin Brushless Compressor has also been neatly mounted inside one of the MITS Alloy undertray toolboxes, keeping onboard air available without taking up useful canopy space.

For a vehicle like the Super Duty, onboard air can be particularly useful when managing tyre pressures across the vehicle, caravan or trailer while travelling.

Protection and Recovery Up Front

The front end starts with an ARB Summit MKII Bull Bar, combined with ARB Side Rails and Steps to extend protection along the side of the vehicle.

A Bushranger Covert 12-S winch has also been integrated into the setup, providing a recovery option when travelling away from sealed roads.

Rather than treating protection and recovery as separate additions later, they’ve been incorporated into the build from the beginning.

Suspension for the Way the Vehicle Is Used

A build of this size brings additional weight, which is why suspension needs to be considered alongside the accessories being fitted.

This Super Duty runs an Old Man Emu MT-64 Parabolic Suspension setup together with Airbag Man airbags.

The suspension has been selected around the way the vehicle is being used, while the airbags provide additional support when carrying varying loads or towing.

This is an important part of planning any large touring build. The right suspension setup should take into account the vehicle, accessories, expected load and how the Super Duty will actually be used.

Lighting Built for More Than Just the Road Ahead

Lighting is one of the standout features of the Super Duty, but each part of the setup serves a different purpose.

At the front, a pair of ARB Solis Driving Lights handles the main forward lighting for night driving and regional travel.

The ARB Base Rack then carries nine Nacho Quatro spotlights across the roof, adding another level of forward lighting and giving the Super Duty plenty of coverage when travelling after dark.

Around the vehicle, two ARB Base Rack Strip Auxiliary Lights and Nacho Corner LED Lights provide additional usable light which becomes especially handy when arriving at camp after dark, accessing gear or working around the vehicle at night.

Rather than relying on one set of lights to do everything, the Super Duty has been set up with different lighting options for driving, touring and use around the vehicle once you’ve stopped.

Communication and Connectivity

For communication, the Super Duty is fitted with a GME XRS UHF 4WD Pack.

A UHF becomes particularly useful when travelling in convoy, communicating between vehicles or heading into areas where mobile reception may be limited.

The build also includes a TLR Starlink Mini Mount and Starlink, giving the vehicle another connectivity option when travelling.

Together, the UHF and Starlink setup show two different sides of communication while touring: short range vehicle-to-vehicle communication and broader connectivity when travelling remotely.

Towing Was Part of the Plan

The Super Duty is already a popular platform for towing, so the build also includes Clearview Towing Mirrors to improve visibility around a caravan or trailer.

But towing has been considered across more than just the mirrors. The suspension, Airbag Man airbags, electrical system, storage and onboard air all form part of a setup designed around carrying weight, towing and travelling comfortably.

It’s another example of why a complete build works best when everything is planned around how the vehicle will actually be used.

Why Build a Display Super Duty Like This?

The idea behind our display Super Duty isn’t that every customer needs this exact list of accessories.

It’s to show what can be achieved when the vehicle is planned properly from the start.

One Super Duty owner might prioritise towing and payload.

Another might need more canopy storage, water and electrical capacity.

Someone travelling remotely may place more importance on onboard air, communication and lighting.

The vehicle, load, caravan or trailer, travel plans and personal preferences can all change what the right setup looks like.

That’s why we approach Super Duty builds around the way the vehicle will actually be used.
