If you want to build the ultimate touring vehicle, it helps to see what’s possible first. Our 79 Series Landcruiser display shows how you can combine tough off-road gear with smart, everyday features. We built this vehicle to handle Australia’s roughest tracks, but it’s also comfortable and practical for daily use.
Below, you’ll find a simple tour of our 79 Series build, highlighting what we’ve added from front to back. If you’re thinking about your own dream rig, you’ll find plenty of ideas here.
Strong Base: MITS Alloy Tray Package
We’ve started with the MITS Alloy Tray Package, known for being strong and reliable — perfect for harsh Aussie conditions. Here’s what’s included:
- 30L Headboard Water Tank: Great for outback trips where water is vital, and it doesn’t take up tray space.
- 1500mm Undertray Drawer: Safely stores your recovery gear and tools, keeping them handy and protected.
- Flared Mudguards: Stop mud and rocks from flying up, and make room for bigger tyres.
- Colour-Coded Undertray Toolboxes: These blend in with the vehicle and keep smaller items neatly stored.
This tray setup makes your 79 Series more useful and ready for any adventure.
Off-Road Ready
A real touring vehicle needs to handle rough tracks with ease, so we fitted this 79 Series with key upgrades:
Up Front: Protection and Recovery
The ARB Summit MKII Bar on the front protects your engine and lets you fit extra accessories. It also features 8T rated recovery points and a Warn 10,000lb winch, so you’ll be ready for tricky situations. For dusty roads or water crossings, the Safari Armax Snorkel helps keep it clean.

Lighting for All Hours
We’ve added ARB Intensity IQ Driving Lights so you have clear vision at night or when setting up camp. The ARB Base Rack on the roof is ready for anything, from extra gear to a spare tyre.
Comfort and Easy Driving
Driving on tough roads can wear you out. That’s why we fitted an Old Man Emu MT64 Suspension upgrade. It helps keep the ride comfortable and smooth even on bumpy tracks, so you can go further without getting tired.
Inside, it’s all about making things easy. The GME XRS 4WD Pack UHF radio lets you stay in touch with others, especially in remote places. To make getting in and out of this tall vehicle simple, we added Clearview Power Boards that fold down automatically when you open the door.
Built for Long Trips
You need extra fuel and room for gear when heading far from towns. That’s why we included:
- ARB Frontier Long Range Tank: It gives you lots more driving distance between fuel stops.
- Hayman Reese X Bar: This strong towbar is great for towing and has built-in recovery points for tough situations.
- ARB Floor Mats: These protect the inside from all the mud, sand, and dirt you’ll bring aboard.
